Triple Challenge Cards!

Hi Stamping Friends!

I have not one, but 2 Triple challenge cards to post today.  Both use color challenges from SCS, and both use layouts from Freshly Made Sketches.  Funny thing is, I tried to post the second one on Monday, but missed the FMS deadline by two minutes!  LOL  So it sat in my drafts.  I decided I might as well post another one with it.

My first card uses this week's color challenge (old olive, daffodil delight and pear pizzazz) along with today's Inspiration Challenge (this piece, in the Peat variety) and this week's Freshly Made Sketches challenge.  I needed a card for my dear hubby for Father's Day.  I liked the yellow trim on the travel bag, and the green shades work well for summertime.  Combining the challenges was fun!

My card base is pear pizzazz, with a layer of very vanilla and old olive.  I stamped leaves, using one of my first stamp sets, "Simple Sketches," a 2-step stamp set.  After stamping, I ran it through the Big Shot with the square lattice folder.  I distressed the corners just a bit.  The main image is from "Lovely as a Tree," colored with markers, and with some sponging.  The sun was made with a sponge dauber.  The sentiment is from Delightful Dozen, and I added a spiral clip and some twine.  Inside, I used a computer generated sentiment, "You are my Sunshine"

Now here is the other card... I finished the Freshly Made Sketches challenge and hoped to link this card, but just missed the deadline.  The colors are from a recent SCS challenge (tempting turquoise, more mustard, and daffodil delight) and the sunshine theme went with one of last week's VSN challenges
My card base is more mustard.  I added strips of daffodil delight to a layer of tempting turquoise, then embossed them with the square lattice folder.  The sentiment is from SU's "Feel Goods", and the pennants are from a retired dsp pack... From the garden??  Not sure!  A large button from SU and some baker's twine finish it off.  I gave this card to one of my staff members.

Kinda funny...both cards have sunshine and square lattice embossing.  Funky coincidence!!

Thanks for stopping by!!

Summer VSN Sketch!!

Hello Stampers!!

Tonight begins the Summer Virtual Stamp Night!! (The VSN badge has the wrong dates...sorry!)  I am hosting again, and I hope you can join my sketch challenge!  I love layers and angles...and you will find those in this sketch.
I made two summer themed cards, flipping the sketch for variety.

My first card features 2 previous In-Colors that are back in the "regular" palette for Stampin' Up...Bermuda Bay & Crushed Curry.  The images are from "By the Tide" and the sentiment is from "Word Play."  I like the Wish Big with a fish!  This will be for one of my brothers-in-law, who has a summer birthday.  Button, ribbon, and baker's twine finish it off.

My next card features long-retired DSP called Tropical Party.  I kid you not...I have a drawer with leftover card kits from my demo days, and that is where I found this turquoise card base and dsp.  Felt great to actually make a card that I will actually mail!  Very simple, using the "Tropical Party" and "On Your Birthday" stamps.  Colors are rose red, old olive, tempting turquoise, and pumpkin pie.

Hope you join the VSN challenges this weekend!!

Freshly Made... Christmas?

Hello Everyone!

It has been a while since I have looked at the Freshly Made Sketches blog.  When I peeked at it the other day, I noticed the scalloped edge in this challenge.  Well, I have this "kit" from Stampin' Up...it came with some huge order I placed a while back.  Meant to be used for a keepsake box, I just figured I would get around to it later.  Instead, the precut scallop dsp came in handy for this challenge.  As you can see, I flipped the sketch.  The ribbon, button, pearl, and strip of wild wasabi (which I embossed with Petals a Plenty)...even the card base came from the kit!  Yay!  I think I have more of this confetti cream card stock, so I may make a dozen of these for my June Christmas Card Challenge.  I will have to find other buttons and lace trim, but it's gonna happen! The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes, and the images are from First Christmas.  Ink colors are chocolate chip, real red, and so saffron, to coordinate with the Christmas dsp.

Quick card, since many pieces were pre-cut.  The other 11 may take more time. *wink*

A Blessing to Play with Paper!

Hello Everyone!

I am getting back into a regular stamping mode...thank goodness!  I needed quite a few birthday and graduation cards, plus some special occasion cards.  My husband started working 2nd shift this week, so that means my evenings have been spent in my craft room.  It is a mess!

I decided to catch up on SCS color challenges (my goal is to do them all this year! not necessarily in order or on time...but all of them!)  I also wanted to peek in on my fave blog challenges, and this sketch from the Paper Players made me smile!

I needed a card for a client who recently gave her testimony at a ministry event.  She has a very inspiring story, and her baby is soooooo precious!  I thought these lovely colors would be cheerful and girly!  The color challenge called for regal rose (soon to retire), bermuda bay (coming back!) and certainly celery (soon to retire).

My card base is regal rose.  I rarely use this; generally only if it is in a color challenge.  Ironically, whenever I do use it, I think "I should pull this color out more."  Oh well!  I added a layer of celery patterned paper.  I had some retired bermuda bay patterned paper as well, which came in handy.  The flower is from SU's "Touch of Nature" colored with markers.  The sentiment is from SU's Blessings from Heaven."   I dusted off my corner rounder and white grosgrain ribbon for some detailing.  Instead of the top square, I have a butterfly punch from regal rose patterned paper. The gems are from an old stash bought at M's or HL...no idea what brand.  (They're old!)

It was fun to play again with not one, but 2 challenges!  Thanks fo stopping by...should be a very stampy summer!!

Summer Mini VSN!!

Hello stamping friends

Last night was the Mini version of Virtual Stamp Night on SCS.  5 challenges were posted, but I just did 3.  Mojo is not up to speed!  Any way, the overall theme is "Dog Days of Summer" and the full VSN will be next month.  I am excited to be a hostess again...so you will see my challenge in June!

Here is a brief description of my cards... Challenge #1 asked us to use summer fruit, and what says summer more than watermelon?  The stamp is from "Mouthwatering", colored with my markers.  The "sweet" sentment is from long-retired "So Very" and of course Teeny Tiny Wishes is there.  My card base is real red, with some daffodil delight for contrast. The white piece was cut out with my Big Shot using the apothecary framelits.

The next card was for a hostess in Australia...and since Christmas comes in the summer for them, we had to make a bright Christmas cared (no snow!).  I pulled out the last of my glorious green card stock and added real red and whisper white. The stamps are from "The Sounding Joy" stamped in daffodil delight and real red. Ticket corner punch, white ribbon, and some gold beads finish it off.

Finally, the next challenge asked us to feature circles, and the hostess mentioned the summer sun.  I started with a completely different vision for this card (using punches) but instead let my glimmer brads be the feature.  I did some doodling with my watercolor crayons and aqua brush.  The sentiment if from Polka Dot Party.  The card stock is tempting turquoise, pumpkin pie, and watercolor paper.

It was a fun night of stamping!  If I ever get my room organized, I could do more of this!  LOL

Thanks for stopping by!

Hello Stamping Friends!

Life is crazy...and that means my blog gets ignored.  Sigh!  Frankly, my stamps have been ignored too!  But recently I completed 4 SCS Inspiration Challenges in one day!  It was a lot of fun...and I managed to get them uploaded on my SCS gallery, but not here.  So I am just going to do a quick write up...

The first inspiration challenge had lots of beautiful carved items, wood tones with some portions painted white.  I used this piece of retired creamy caramel, white craft ink, and the Just Believe stamp set as main highlights.  The wood grain embossing folder, lace trim and butterfly embosslit add some details...and let's not forget Teeny Tiny Wishes!

The next challenge had us look at photographs from major cities around the world. I was inspired by a photo of the fabulous Ferris wheel on Chicago's Navy Pier.  I used this Sentimental stamp set from Sale-a-bration (which has 3 wonderful vintage images) and The Open Sea to make my own pattern paper on a piece cut out with the top note die.   I added some baker's twine and striped ribbon, with On Your Birthday again.  The colors are night of navy, cherry cobbler, and soft suede.  The card also works for a recent sketch challenge.

My third card was tricky, but fun to make.  The inspiration site had lots of fabulous fabric and accessories.  I was inspired by this piece.  I have a cajun craze card base, used Paisley Petals stamp set, and went to town with blender pens.  Not exactly what I envisioned, but overall, I like it!  The black satin ribbon adds some drama, and the sentiment (Blessings from Heaven) softens things up.

My final card for this post is a quick, CAS card.  I was inspired by a cute tote...which I cannot link now because it sold out!  LOL.  It was woven, simple color block with reddish-brown leather straps.  *wink*  My card is crumb cake, pacific point, touches of cajun craze and vanilla.  The sentiment is Thank You Kindly.  My ribbon is retired dusty durango, hiding the polka dot side.  The large brads are from a craft store.

Whew!  At least I am catching up!  Thanks for stopping by again!

Late for the Mash-up!

Hello Friends!

So this was a Friday Mashup challenge, which I completed "on time" but never uploaded.  In fact, I am uploading it hear LATER than this post indicates.  I don't mean to bear false witness...just trying to catch up on some blogging without jamming up my posts!  Holly had a triple challenge... 1) use you brayer (I brayered various colors over my new embossing folder I got with my SU Sale-a-Bration order) 2) use butterflies (I used my favorite embosslits to make this batch) and 3) use the sketch she  presented...which was a simple array of butterflies and a sentiment.  Ta-dah!  I added bashful blue satin ribbon and basic rhinestones.  My card base is confetti white, as is the embossed layer.  The sentiment is from On Your Birthday, on a scalloped oval.  The colors...daffodil delight, certainly celery, and bashful blue were for a SCS color challenge.

Quick...easy...and very fun!

Thanks for stopping by to help me dust off my blog!  *wink*
